BELTON, Texas -- The Concordia Texas men's tennis squad took home a 5-4 decision at Mary Hardin-Baylor Friday afternoon. It marks the Tornados first ASC West win of the season and the first such victory since the sport resumed on campus this year.

Gabriel Borunda went undefeated on the day, taking a win at line one doubles and line one singles.

UMHB jumped out and won line two doubles quickly, but CTX fought hard at lines one and three to take two out of three doubles matches, gaining mometum for the singles competition.

After Borunda's 7-5, 6-1 win at line one, the Tornados were up 4-3 with Jack Proctor and Micah Austin as the remaining matches on the courts. Proctor won at line five. 6-4,6-3 win for the clinch. Austin finished his match at line six and lost, but played well, ending the contest at 5-4.

"I have been telling the guys to play a complete match. Beginning to end. They did that well in doubles and that ended up making the difference. It was a great team effort against a strong UMHB team," coach Daniel Whitehead said.

The Tornados host Howard Payne April 1 at River Place Country Club. The match begins at 2 p.m. CTX will honor its lone senior, Jack Proctor, prior to the contest.
