BOX SCORE

AUSTIN, Texas -- Junior midfielder Diego Outerial's late penalty kick goal proved to be the difference for Concordia, winning 1-0 over Belhaven on Friday afternoon, extending their win streak to five.

After a stalemate between both teams throughout the game, Outerial was fouled in the box in the 87th minute, resulting a penalty kick for the Tornados. As Outerial approached the ball, he hesitated, leaving Blazers' junior goalkeeper Josh Gates already diving to his right and Outerial shot it center for the goal and the lead for Concordia.

In the first half, the Tornados struggled to get going on offense. They totaled only three shots in the half and a couple of corners. Defensively, Concordia was tough, thwarting away Belhaven's scoring opportunities. ASC defensive player of the week junior goalkeeper Jesus Barrera pitched yet another shutout for the Tornados, totaling two saves on the day.

In the second half, play became more tense, as both teams were given yellow cards early on. In the 48th minute, Barrera came up with a huge save on a shot by junior midfielder Somto Ngwudike to maintain the scoreless tie.

Concordia hosts Louisiana College tomorrow at 4:30 P.M. at St. Stephen's Episcopal School.
