CTX drops Hardin-Simmons 3-0

AUSTIN, Texas – After being swept by Hardin-Simmons earlier this season, the Concordia Texas volleyball team returned the favor with a 3-0 win over the Cowgirls Tuesday at Concordia Fieldhouse.

CTX has now won their last four conference games and six of their last seven as they moved to 11-7, 8-2 in ASC play. The Tornados are now tied with UT Tyler and UT Dallas for the second best conference record in the ASC.

CTX trailed 20-19 in the first set, but used a 6-2 run to close out the set and grab a 25-22 victory.

In set two, the Tornados jumped out to an early 19-11 lead and were able to keep Hardin-Simmons at arms-length for the rest of the set, winning 25-19.

The Cowgirls held a 10-7 lead in set three, but CTX came storming back on a 12-3 run which included a stretch of five straight points with libero Sydney Dudney at the service line. The Tornados finished off the sweep with a 25-16 win in the final set.

Statistically, Kelly Farina led the way for CTX with 10 kills, three service aces and nine digs. Farina, a sophomore from Spring, Texas, had a .200 attack percentage in the match and registered four kills in the final set.
