CTX rolls past Louisiana College 3-0

ABILENE, Texas – Kelly Farina posted her sixth straight game with double digit kills to help the Concordia Texas volleyball team grab a 3-0 sweep of Louisiana College on Friday in day one of the ASC Crossover at McMurry University.

The Tornados (12-7, 9-2) have now won their last five conference matches and seven of their last eight. They remain just 1.5 games back of Mary Hardin-Baylor in the ASC West Division.

Farina, a sophomore from Spring, Texas, led the team with 12 kills and has emerged as one of the top outside hitters for CTX. Farina had registered double digit kills in just three of the Tornados' first 13 games prior to this six match stretch. She also recorded two service aces and two digs.

In the first set, CTX closed the match outscoring the Wildcats 21-3 to win 25-8 after being tied 4-4 early in the set. The Tornados finished set one with a .300 hitting percentage as a team.

CTX maintained the momentum into the second set, jumping out to an early 14-6 lead before coasting to a 25-12 set win.

The Wildcats held a 15-14 lead in set three, but were unable to hold on as the Tornados closed the match on an 11-2 run to win the third set 25-17.

Marjani Myles also picked up double digit kills with 10 while adding two blocks and producing a .474 hitting percentage.

As a team, CTX held Louisiana College to a -.048 hitting percentage in the match while also producing nine service aces in just three sets.

Rylee Davis had a season-high 16 digs in the match while also picking up two service aces and an assist.

The Tornados continue play in the ASC Crossover tomorrow with two matches both at McMurry University. CTX will take on UT Dallas at 10 a.m. and will close the tournament with a 3 p.m. match against LeTourneau.
