AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia Texas men's soccer team's rally fell short on senior night as they lost to 21
st-ranked Mary Hardin-Baylor 2-1 on Saturday.
In the first half, the Tornados would work defensively holding the Cru scoreless through much of the first half. UMHB would break through though, scoring a goal in the 36
th minute.
Stephen Guastella looked to even up the score late in the half, but his shot was high. CTX would head to the break, trailing 1-0.
The Tornados would not trail for long as
Alejandro Labastida fired a missile from outside the box and into the net to knot it up at 1-all in the 52
nd minute. The goal gives Labastida the program record for goals in a career with 18. The Cru would respond in the 55
th minute though, scoring on a header to retake the lead at 2-1.
Both teams would battle it out as time winded down. Labastida would rifle a shot in the 85
th minute to tie it up but it was blocked as CTX went on to lose 2-1.
Up next, the Tornados will go on the road to Abilene, Texas to take on Hardin-Simmons on Oct. 19 at 3:30 p.m.
