Luna provides the late game-winner over Hardin-Simmons

ABILENE, Texas – Down by one goal with less than 20 minutes to play, the Concordia Texas men's soccer team would rally together, scoring two late goals to defeat Hardin-Simmons 2-1 on Thursday, October 19, 2017

Trailing 1-0, Alejandro Labastida, the new program leader for goals in a career for the Tornados tacked on another one to his record as he took the pass from Nash Cole and fired it into the back of the net, tying it up at 1-all in the 74th minute. The goal was the sixth of the year for Labastida, which leads the team, while it was Cole's third assist of the season, tying him with three other CTX players for the team lead.

The Tornados would not wait long to take their first lead of the game as Bryan Luna received the pass from Jason Saco-Vertiz and shot it past the goalie, giving CTX a 2-1 lead in the 83rd minute. It was Luna's second goal of the season, while Saco-Vertiz tallied his third assist of 2017.

HSU looked to tie it up late, but goalie Rob Oakley was there for the save in the 89th minute to secure the win for the Tornados. CTX finished the game with 19 shots, 12 of them on goal, while Oakley recorded four assists, including three in the second half to hold the Cowboys to the lone goal.

Up next, the Tornados will stay in Abilene, Texas, facing McMurry on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 7:30 p.m.
