SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Facing 5th-ranked Trinity and Texas Lutheran, the Concordia Texas volleyball closed out the final day of the Tiger Invitational splitting a pair of matches on Saturday.
In their match against Trinity, the Tornados would split the first two of sets of the match but were overwhelmed by the Tigers, falling 3-1.
CTX went toe-to-toe with TU, losing a close first set 25-23 then responded with a 25-16 second set win, finishing the match with 42 kills to the Tigers' 44 on the match.
Georgia Quiroz had a team-high 33 assists for the Tornados, while
Carly Custer finished with 21 digs to lead the team.
In the second match of the day, the Tornados hit .258 as a team and swept the Bulldogs in straight sets for their first win against TLU since 2013.
Marissa Stinson and Myles were the one-two punch for CTX as they had 13 and 11 kills respectively a part of the team's 49 kills in the match. Quiroz had 42 assists for the Tornados, while
Kelly Farina nearly had a double-double, finishing with nine kills and 10 digs.
In the final set, CTX trailed the Bulldogs 10-1 early. The Tornados would rally though, winning five of the next six points and closed out the set on a 24-11 run to complete the sweep.
Up next, CTX will host their final game of the regular season when they will take on Huston-Tillotson inside Concordia Fieldhouse on Tuesday, October 31, at 6 p.m.
