AUSTIN, Texas – After dropping the first set, the Concordia Texas volleyball team rallied to win the next three sets to defeat Howard Payne on Friday.

The Tornados would hit below a .100 hitting percentage and only recorded nine kills in the first set as the Yellow Jackets took it 25-18. They would bounce back in the final three sets though as they reached double figures kills in each remaining set.

Three different CTX players finished with at least 10 kills, led by Marissa Stinson, who had a team-high 17 on the night. Georgia Quiroz, meanwhile, had a career-high in assists, tallying 47 for the match and 15 digs for her sixth double-double of the season. Sydney Dudney led the Tornados with 23 digs and three service aces for the match.

In the final set, tied at 10-all, CTX would outscore HPU 15-8 to close out the match and secure their fourth conference win in their last five conference matches.

The Tornados will have a quick turnaround when they host Sul Ross State on Saturday at 2 p.m. inside Concordia Fieldhouse.
