AUSTIN, Texas –
Kaycee Moore scored two goals in the second half and
Cayla Gonzalez scored her ninth goal of the season to help the Concordia Texas women's soccer team grab a 3-1 win over Howard Payne Saturday at Round Rock Multipurpose Complex.
Moore, a sophomore from Azle, Texas, scored her seventh and eighth goals of the season as the Tornados moved to 8-5, 4-4 ASC.
CTX opened the scoring early in the game when Gonzalez, a freshman out of Austin, Texas, found the back of the net off an assist from
Kayla Carlove. The nine goals on the year ties her fourth most single-season goals in school history.
Howard Payne answered with a goal of their own in the 22nd minute to equalize.
The score remained 1-1 until the 78th minute when Moore hit a shot off the second assist of the day for Carlove.
Just three minutes later, Moore blasted a shot from 30 yards out off a pass from
Skylar Larkin to make the game 3-1.
The Tornados ended the game with 25 shots and nine shots on goal. Goalkeeper
Shelby Franco made six saves and picked up the win to move to 6-5 this season.
CTX will play in their third straight home match Saturday, Oct. 14 against Mary Hardin-Baylor at 5 p.m.
