AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia Texas men's basketball team scored at least 50 points in each half as they ran away with a 106-84 win over Southwestern in their home opener on Tuesday.
It is the first 100-point game for the Tornados since Feb. 18, 2017 when they defeated McMurry 112-98.
Joe Neal lead the way with his 23-point, nine rebound performance.
Ephriam Price III,
Philip Meikle and
DeTarrius Kirk all reached double figures for CTX as well.
The Tornados would lead 56-40 at the break as they shot over 61 percent from the field as a team. Meikle racked up five assists in the first half while Price knocked down three three-pointers and had 13 points at the break.
In the second half, CTX would shoot over 50 percent from the field once again while holding the Pirates under 42 percent in the half and helped force eight turnovers. The Tornados would collect 38 points off of Southwestern's turnovers for the night.
Kirk grabbed four of his five rebounds in the second period and had two rejections. Meikle would add on a pair of assists and finished the game with a new career-high of seven.
Maluw Deng knocked down his first collegiate bucket, a three, as the game winded down and CTX took it 106-84.
Up next, the Tornados will go down the road to St. Edward's University to play in the St. Edward's Thanksgiving Tournament, facing Dallas Baptist on Friday at 5 p.m. and the Hilltoppers on Saturday at 4 p.m., with both games being exhibitions for CTX.
