CLARKSVILLE, Ark. –
Joe Neal scored a season-high 33 points, 23 of them coming in the second half, as the Concordia Texas men's basketball team defeated Ozarks 97-92 on Sunday for their first conference win of the season.
Trailing by six at the half, the Tornados shot over 60 percent from the field in the second half as they outscored the Eagles 54-43.
Neal shot 11-21 from the field himself, while also grabbing 10 rebounds, securing his first double-double of the season. The 33 points was one shy of his career high.
Concordia Texas began to make their run at the 16:23 mark in the second half, going on a 21-7 run, capped off by a
Ronnie Hamilton layup plus the free-throw to give the Tornados a 75-65 lead. Hamilton finished the game with 12 points.
Ozarks would rally, cutting the lead to three with under four minutes to play, but back-to-back three-pointers by Hamilton and Neal would seal the 97-92 win for CTX.
Joshua Samuels finished the game with 17 points, nine of them in the first half. DeTattrius Kirk had two thunderous dunks contributing to his 12 points in the game, while
Ephriam Price III also had 12 points for the Tornados.
