Neal, Price lead Tornados past UT Tyler

TYLER, Texas – Joe Neal recorded his second straight game of scoring at least 30 points as the Concordia Texas men's basketball team won their third game in a row with a 99-93 victory over UT Tyler on Tuesday.

Neal shot 70 percent from the floor, scoring 24 of 31 points in the second half as the Tornados led from the tipoff to the final buzzer.

Ephriam Price III led the way in the first half, scoring 16 of his 24 points in the period including a pair of three-pointers as CTX held a 47-36 lead at the midway point. The Tornados took advantage of 11 Patriots' turnovers converting them into 22 points to build their double-digit lead.

In the second half, UTT would cut the deficit to six forcing a CTX timeout. Out of the timeout, Neal caught fire, knocking down 10 of his next 11 shots as the Tornados took their largest lead of the night at 16 points.

The Patriots would rally though, trimming it to a three-point game with under two minutes to play. Concordia Texas answered with a Neal jumper followed by going 10-10 from the free-throw line to ice the game and pick up the 99-93 win.

Up next, the Tornados will return home to host Beloit College in a non-conference matchup on Dec. 28 at 4 p.m. before traveling to Houston, Texas to face Bethel College in a neutral-sited game on the campus of St. Thomas University on Dec. 30.
