AUSTIN, Texas –
Joe Neal registered his second double-double in three games and helped the Concordia Texas men's basketball team pick up their fourth straight victory with a 112-79 win over Beloit College on Thursday at Concordia Fieldhouse.
CTX moved to 8-3 on the season as Neal, a junior from Houston, put up 25 points and tied a career high with 12 rebounds.
The Tornados never trailed in the game, opening the first half on a 16-3 run. CTX was able to keep the Buccaneers at arms-length for the rest of the half, going to halftime with a 60-42 lead. The 60 points were the most CTX has scored in a half this season.
The second half was more of the same, as the Tornados used an 11-3 run to stretch their lead to 91-63 with 7:06 left in the second half.
Along with Neal, three other Concordia players scored in double figures as
Ben Page produced 18,
Ephriam Price III added 16 and
DeTarrius Kirk picked up 10.
The game was won by the CTX defense as they forced 26 turnovers and scored 35 points off them in the game.
Neal, the reigning ASC Player of the Week, did most of his damage in the first half with 15 points and seven boards in the first stanza. He played just 25 minutes in the game and was still able to increase his average to 18.5 points per game this season.
Next up, the Tornados will go for their fifth straight win in their final non-conference game of the regular season against Bethel University Saturday, Dec. 30 at St. Thomas University beginning at 2 p.m.
