Tornados lose heartbreaker to LeTourneau

LONGVIEW, Texas – Five Tornados scored in double figures but it was not enough as the Concordia Texas men's basketball team fell to LeTourneau 117-110 in overtime on Saturday.

Tied at 102-all with under 30 seconds remaining in regulation, Joe Neal drove to the right of lane and pulled up but the shot was off, sending the game into overtime.

In the overtime period, CTX was outscored by the Yellow Jackets 15-8 as they lost their second-straight conference game on the road.

Neal and Philip Meikle both had a team-high 20 points to lead the Tornados. For Meikle, the scoring output was a new career-high. DeTarrius Kirk put together his first double-double of the season, scoring 16 points and grabbing a season-high 10 rebounds.

Ephriam Price III and Joshua Samuels had 18 and 15 points respectively.

Concordia Texas shot 46 percent from the field and made it count at the charity-stripe, shooting over 90 percent from the line. The Tornados held the lead for most of the game, with their largest lead being 13 points towards the end of the first half.

LeTourneau would make their run down the stretch, closing out the second half on a 19-8 run to force overtime.

Up next, CTX is off for a week before returning to Concordia Fieldhouse to take on Centenary on Saturday, Dec. 9, at 2 p.m.
