LONGVIEW, Texas –
Kaycie Dunkerley set a new career-high with 19 points to help the Concordia Texas women's basketball team grab a 63-54 win over LeTourneau Saturday afternoon at Solheim Arena.
Dunkerley, a sophomore from Azle, Texas, knocked down five 3-pointers and also pulled down six rebounds as CTX moved to 5-2, 1-1 ASC on the year.
After a fairly even first quarter, the Tornados pulled ahead in the second with a 10-1 run to go up 25-16. The Yellowjackets stormed back, however, with a 10-0 run of their own to take a 26-25 lead into halftime.
The Tornados were able to regroup at the break and came out of the locker room hot with a 10-0 run to start the second half. The run was capped off with Dunkerley's fourth made 3-pointer of the game.
CTX outscored LeTourneau 25-7 in the third quarter and took a commanding 50-33 lead into the fourth and used it to cruise to a nine point victory.
Jaela Dejean was also fantastic in this one, producing 17 points, seven boards and three steals. She was instrumental down the stretch as she went 5-for-8 from the free-throw line to ice the game for the Tornados.
