BOX SCORE PINEVILLE, La. – The Concordia Softball team faced Louisiana College in the rubber game of the series, losing 5-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Haley Dennett took the mound for CTX, pitching two and a third innings giving up two runs on five hits. Turner would take the mound in the fourth getting tagged for three runs on one hit.
Shelby Burrus would finish the game for the Tornados pitching two and a third scoreless innings.
The Tornados took a 1-0 lead in the third inning after a double by Katie Turner to lead off the inning and would come home on a passed ball. But the Wildcats would respond by pushing across two runs in the bottom half of the inning.
CTX would threaten in the fourth inning, getting runners on first and second but a caught stealing would end the inning. In the sixth, a lead-off single by Dennett, followed by a sac bunt gave the Tornados another scoring chance but were unable to capitalize. CTX was unable to mount a rally in their final at bat, losing 5-1.
Next up, the Tornados will play a home-opening doubleheader against Schreiner at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Feb. 15.
