AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia Softball team faltered in the series finale against Mary Hardin-Baylor 11-2 on Saturday afternoon.
Shelby Burrus was given her fifth straight loss as she pitched into the fifth inning, giving up four runs on seven hits.
Haley Dennett had two hits on the day, while
Angelica Arroyo had a hit and two runs scored.
The Tornados took an early lead in the third inning after Arroyo led off the inning with a single up the middle and moved to second on a sac bunt.
Kayla Patton brought her home on a single to left to make it 1-0.
The Cru took their first lead of the game in the fifth, scoring four runs on three hits to lead 4-1. CTX responded with a run in the bottom half of the inning on an
Olivia Kaase fielder's choice to cut the deficit to 4-2.
UMHB broke open the game in the sixth as they scored seven runs on five hits as they batted around. The Tornados headed into the bottom half of the sixth trailing 11-2.
Alexia Rowe led off with a single up the middle, but a double play cleared the bases.
Morgan Loredo followed with a single, but a strikeout ended the game as CTX lost on run rule.
The Tornados will head on the road to Marshall, Texas for a three-game series against East Texas Baptist beginning on Friday at 5 p.m.
