TYLER, Texas – The Concordia Softball team allowed only one run after the first inning, but were unable to rally, falling to UT Dallas 5-0 in the first game of the American Southwest Conference Tournament on Thursday.

Shelby Burrus went the distance, allowing five runs on eight hits. The Comets struck first, scoring four runs on five hits, all coming with two outs and led 4-0 after the first inning.

The Tornados moved a runner to second base in four of the first five innings, but were unable to bring a run home, tallying four hits total on the day. UTD added another run in the sixth to push the lead to 5-0.

In their final at-bat, Payton Walker worked a one-out single up the middle. One out later, Kennedy Coffin battled, down to her final strike, before popping out to first to end the game.

CTX will now face Louisiana College, who after defeating Mary Hardin-Baylor, lost to UT Tyler. The elimination game will begin at 1 p.m. on Friday from Sudden Link Field.
