Cole, Tornados remain undefeated

LONGVIEW, Texas – Nash Cole's goal in the 11th minute was all the Concordia Texas men's soccer team needed as they won their fifth-straight game with a 1-0 victory over LeTourneau on Saturday.

The Tornados (5-0-0, 2-0-0 ASC) allowed only seven shots on the night in a defensive battle as Rob Oakley recorded his second straight shutout. On the offensive side of the ball, CTX tallied 17 shots on the night, with eight of them being on goal.

The Tornados would go up 1-0 in the 11th minute on a free kick from Ronny Garza that was initially blocked and then fired in by Cole for his first goal of the season. Alejandro Labastida, coming off his hat trick on Thursday, recorded three shots on goal but was unable to find the back of the net.

Oakley would finish the game with four saves, allowing only two shots in the second half as CTX held to win 1-0 and remain perfect in 2017.

Up next, the Tornados will return home, where they will host UT Tyler on Thursday, Sept. 21, at 7:30 p.m. at the Rock Round Multipurpose Complex in Round Rock, Texas.
