AUSTIN, Texas –
Nash Cole's goal in the 67th minute was not enough, as the Concordia Texas men's soccer team fell to UT Tyler 3-1 on Thursday, ending their five-game winning streak.
The Tornados (5-1-0, 2-1-0 ASC) tallied 13 shots on the night, including nine in the second half.
Rob Oakley, coming off being named the American Southwest Conference Defensive Player of the Week, recorded four saves on the night as the Patriots had seven shots on goal on the night.
Trailing 1-0 in the second half, Cole would be fouled in the box, resulting in a penalty kick for CTX. Cole would fire it to the right side, past the goalie, to tie it up at 1-1. It was Cole's second goal of the season. The Tornados continued to battle with UTT throughout the half, but the Patriots would retake the lead in the 81
st minute on a cross and shot past Oakley.
UTT would add on another goal in the 85
th minute, and take the game 3-1, ending CTX's perfect record.
Up next, the Tornados will play host to Ozarks on Saturday, Sept. 23, at 3:30 p.m. The game will be played on the campus of Southwestern University.
