CTX falls to Ozarks 1-0

GEORGETOWN, Texas – The Concordia Texas men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to the University of Ozarks Saturday at Southwestern University Soccer Field.

The Tornados (5-2, 2-2 ASC) led in almost every offensive statistical category but were shutout for the first time this season.

In the first half, CTX could not take advantage of golden opportunities as they had 15 first half shot attempts compared to just two for the Eagles. The best chance for a CTX score came in the 45th minute of the first half when CJ Linn hit a shot from inside the box that barely missed and hit the post.

In total, Concordia outshot Ozarks 22-6 and held a 7-1 advantage in shots on goal.

The Eagles netted the only goal of the match in the 53rd minute when Matt Samaniego found the back of the net off a deflection. The score remained 1-0 until the final whistle.

Omar Aguirre led the way for CTX with five shots and two shots on goal.

The Tornados continue conference play on Thursday, Sept. 28 in Jackson, MS against Belhaven beginning at 7:30 p.m.
