GEORGETOWN, Texas –
Kayla Carlove's header in the 94th minute snapped the team's four-game losing streak as the Concordia Texas women's soccer team defeated Ozarks 3-2 in overtime on Saturday.
Tied at 2-2 at the end of regulation, the Tornados and Eagles headed to overtime with the first goal of the period determining the game. After an Ozarks foul,
Alicia Pineda would take the free kick for CTX. Fired into the left side of the box, Carlove rose above the rest and headed it into the right side of the net for the goal and the win. It was her fourth goal of the year.
In regulation, both teams remained scoreless at the half. After an Eagles goal, the Tornados responded with a goal of their own in the 57th minute after
Cayla Gonzalez's pass from just inside the midfield line reached
Pamela Lasprilla in the box who shot it past the goalie to tie it up at 1-1. It was her third goal of the year.
Gonzalez would record her second assist of the game in the 70th minute when she found
Bayli Luke on the right side of the box, shooting it over the goalie for her first goal of the season and made it 2-1. Ozarks would tie it up at 2-all in the 77th minute and the teams would go on to play overtime.
Haley Dennett, in her first start in goal, recorded three saves for CTX and earned her first win of the season.
