AUSTIN, Texas –
Hanah Singer served an ace to cap off a five-set win over McMurry on Tuesday as the Concordia Texas volleyball team has now won six of their last eight games.
Four Tornados finished with at least 10 kills, including
Carly Custer,
Marissa Stinson and
Kelly Farina all having a team-high 14 kills. Custer also recorded her sixth double-double of the season as she led the team with 27 digs.
Sydney Dudney, fresh off being name American Southwest Conference West Division Defensive Player of the Week, was second on the team with 21 digs.
In the first two sets, CTX would tally 28 kills total, taking a close first set 28-26 and following it up with a 25-17 second set victory to go up two sets to none in the match. The War Hawks would fight back though, taking the next two sets to tie it at 2-all.
The Tornados would battle back-and-forth with McMurry as the score was knotted up at 14-all.
Samantha Mendez would give CTX the lead for good with a kill followed by Singer's service ace to close out the win.
Up next, the Tornados will have a week before hosting Texas Lutheran on Oct. 3 at 6 p.m. inside Concordia Fieldhouse.
