BELTON, Texas –
Ephriam Price III tied his career-high with 34 points but it was not enough as the Concordia Texas men's basketball team fell to Mary Hardin-Baylor 102-98 on Saturday.
Price III shot 12-25 from the floor, including knocking down five three-pointers for the Tornados, whose four-game win streak was snapped.
Concordia Texas would struggle early on in the first half, trailing by as much as 14 with 9:18 left to play in the period. Price III would bring the Tornados back within four at halftime though, scoring 20 first-half points.
In the second half,
Joe Neal gave CTX their first lead since the 18:47 mark of the first half with a layup. He would finish the game with 29 points, 19 of them coming in the second half alone.
Tied at 68-all, the Cru would take the lead for good though with a 15-4 run. The Tornados would make a late charge as Price III's free-throw cut the deficit to four with 1:34 to play, but Neal could not get his next two jumpers to drop as CTX lost 102-98.
With their performances on Saturday, Price III and Neal are now 33 and 37 points away from reaching 1000 points in their careers, respectively.
Up next, the Tornados return to Concordia Fieldhouse for a six-game home stand. They will face UT Dallas on Monday, Jan. 22, at 7:30 p.m.
