Payton Berger's game-tying layup came up short as the Concordia Texas women's basketball team lost to Belhaven on Thursday, falling 62-59.
Holding a one-point lead after three quarters, the Tornados looked to close out the Blazers.
Belhaven would rally though and take a five-point lead with two minutes remaining in the game. A
Kaycie Dunkerley three, followed by a free throw from Jalea Dejean would cut it to one.
After the Blazers pushed the lead back to two, CTX would get four consecutive chances in the final seconds to tie the game, but none of the shots would fall. Belhaven would add a free throw with one second remaining to take the game 62-59.

Jaela Dejean would go 11-14 from the charity-stripe and led the team with 14 points and a season-high nine assists. The Tornados finished the game with a season-high 16 assists and forced 25 turnovers for 31 points.
Mercedes Ellison had a near double-double, shooting 50 percent from the field for 12 points and pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.
Up next, CTX will have a quick turnaround when they host Louisiana College on Saturday at 2 p.m. seeking to snap their four-game losing streak.
