Tristyn Massey and
Marissa Stinson both produced double digit kills but it was not enough as the Concordia Texas volleyball team fell 3-1 to No. 17 UT Tyler Saturday at Louise Herrington Patriot Center.
Massey, a junior from Amarillo, Texas, picked up a double-double with 15 kills and 10 digs as CTX dropped to 14-9 on the season.
The Tornados led 21-19 in set number one, but the Patriots roared back to score six of the final eight points in the set to win 25-23.
In set number two, UT Tyler jumped ahead 6-2 early and never looked back, taking the set 25-16.
CTX continued to fight, however, in set number three. Trailing 18-15, the Tornados went on a 9-3 run to close out the set and stay alive with a 25-22 victory.
In the fourth and final set, UTT was able to use a 7-0 to take a commanding lead and grab a 25-11 win.
Stinson, a junior out of Pearland, Texas, racked up 13 kills while setter
Georgia Quiroz had over 40 assists for the fifth time this season with 42.
Despite the loss, the Tornados remain in second place in the American Southwest Conference West Division standings with a 9-3 record in conference play.
Next up, CTX will travel to Brownwood, Texas, to take on Howard Payne at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19.
