Tornados fall 2-0 to Hardin-Simmons

CEDAR PARK, Texas – In their home finale, the Concordia Texas men's soccer team would come up short, falling 2-0 to Hardin-Simmons on Sunday at John Gupton Stadium.

In a physical game, which included five yellow card between the teams, the Tornados and Cowboys would remain scoreless for most of the first half.

Concordia Texas would nearly strike first on a shot from Brandon Barrows, but HSU was there for the save.

The Cowboys would get on the board first with a goal in the 40th minute on a throw in, leading to a header. They would hold the 1-0 lead at the midway point.

In the second half, CTX would look for the equalizer, nearly tying it at 1-all on header by Victor Gomez but went over the crossbar.

Hardin-Simmons, meanwhile, doubled their lead with a goal in the 65th minute.

The Tornados, trying to rally from the two-goal deficit, would fall short, dropping a 2-0 decision to the Cowboys.

Concordia Texas will now turn their attention to their regular season finale when they face Sul Ross State on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. in Alpine, Texas.
