WALLA WALLA, Wash. –
Joe Neal scored 24 points while going 8-for-10 from the floor as the Concordia Texas men's basketball team fell 124-92 against Whitman Saturday night at Sherwood Athletic Center.
Neal, a senior from Houston, also drilled four 3-pointer and dished out a team-high four assists. The Tornados dropped to 1-2 on the young season with the loss.
With the score tied at 18, Whitman broke the game open with a 22-0 run to take a commanding lead and never looked back.
Both teams shot well in the contest, with the Blues shooting 53.2 percent from the floor while CTX shot at a 54.5 percent clip. Whitman was able to knock down more shots from beyond-the-arc, however, going 17-35 from three in the contest.
Along with Neal,
Tommy Holiday and
Ephriam Price III both scored in double-digits for the Tornados. Holiday, a freshman from Madisonville, Texas, had a career-high 19 points and four rebounds in just 17 total minutes of game action.
As a team, the Tornados held a slight 52-50 advantage in points in the paint, but the Blues were able to dominate the glass, pulling down 40 total rebounds compared to just 27 for CTX.
Next up, the Tornados will head to Georgetown, Texas to face off with Southwestern Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
