Berger scores season-high in loss to Texas Lutheran

SEGUIN, Texas – Payton Berger shot 50 percent from the floor and scored a season-high 17 points, but it was not enough as the Concordia Texas women's basketball team lost to Texas Lutheran 77-50 on Sunday.

Berger shot 7-14 from the field, scoring a game-high 17 points and snagged five rebounds, while Kaycie Dunkerley knocked down three buckets from behind the arc, reaching double figures with 14 points to go along with four steals.

In the first quarter, the Tornados would keep close with the Bulldogs, trailing only 14-12 after one, led by Berger's four points.

In the second, Berger would score five of CTX's eight points in the quarter, closing the gap to one, but a late 9-0 TLU run would create a double-digit deficit, heading to the locker room trailing 33-20.

In the third, the Tornados would post their best offensive output of the game, scoring 17 points, but continued to trail after three quarters.

In the final frame, CTX was unable to mount a rally as the Bulldogs added on to their lead and went on to take the game 77-50.

Next, the Tornados will turn their attention to conference play when they host LeTourneau on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. inside Concordia Fieldhouse.
