AUSTIN, Texas – In the first regular season action of the 2018-19 season, the Concordia Texas women's basketball team fell 74-63 Tuesday night inside Concordia Fieldhouse.
Offensively, CTX was led by junior
Keturah Taylor who finished with 18 points to go along with five rebounds.
Taylor was one of three Tornados to finish with double-digit scoring nights as
Payton Berger and
Presli Bray had 12 and 11 points, respectively. Berger, a sophomore out of Azle, Texas, also led CTX with nine boards and six assists.
The Bulldogs jumped ahead early, using 15-0 run in the first quarter to take a 24-14 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The Tornados responded in the second, however, using a 18-6 run to cut the deficit to just one after a made layup from
Kaycie Dunkerley.
Leading by five at the break, TLU came out on fire in the second half, scoring nine straight points to open the quarter and take a 46-32 lead.
The Bulldogs were able to keep the Tornados at arms-length the rest of the way and grab a 74-63 victory.
As a team, CTX did a lot of their work on the night from beyond the arc, drilling 14 total 3-pointers, including six from Taylor.
The Tornados will now hit the road and travel to San Antonio for their next contest on Monday against Trinity (Texas) at 6:00 p.m.
