Price III's career high not enough against ETBU

AUSTIN, Texas – Ephriam Price III exploded for a career-high 37 points, including 30 coming in the second half, but the Concordia Texas men's basketball team's comeback fell short 97-95 to East Texas Baptist on Saturday.

It was a back-and-forth battle between the Tornados and Tigers, that included 13 lead changes and neither team having a lead larger than eight.

Price III finished with a career-high 37 points on 13-22 shooting, including a 50 percent mark from behind the arc, and added six rebounds. Joe Neal, meanwhile, had 23 points on 12 shots and snagged eight rebounds.

In the first half, CTX raced out to an early eight-point lead after Neal got the layup to drop and make it 17-8. East Texas Baptist would chip away though and take a two-point lead into the locker room at 50-48.

Neal led all scorers at the break with 18 points, including a perfect 3-for-3 from downtown.

In the second half, Price would catch fire, scoring 30 of the team's 47 points in the half. He would give the Tornados their first second-half lead after knocking down one of his five threes on the night and make it 71-68 with under ten minutes to play.

The Tigers responded though with a 9-0 run to retake the lead and would go on to take their biggest lead of the game, 93-85 with 2:35 to play.

Concordia Texas would not go down without a fight though, as Price III scored the final 10 points for the team. His layup would cut the deficit to one with under a minute to play.

After an ETBU basket, Price III would be fouled, trailing by three. Price III would make the first free throw, setting a new career high, and miss the second with Neal grabbing the rebound, but he was unable to get the putback to fall as the Tornados lost 97-95.

Next, CTX will have a quick turnaround when they travel to Seguin, Texas for a matchup with Texas Lutheran on Monday at 7 p.m.
