AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia Texas women's basketball team suffered a 68-53 loss at the hands of ninth-ranked East Texas Baptist on Saturday at Concordia Fieldhouse.
Payton Berger and
Kaycie Dunkerley both scored in double figures, but it was not enough as the Tornados fell to 2-5, 1-1 in the ASC.
Berger, a junior from Azle, Texas, produced a game-high 17 points to go along with nine rebounds while Dunkerley, also a junior out of Azle, Texas, added 15 points and nine boards.
ETBU came out firing, opening the game on a 9-2 run and closing the first quarter with a 19-10 lead.
Trailing 35-20 in the second stanza, CTX mounted a comeback by closing the quarter on a 12-2 run to cut the deficit to just five at the half.
The Tornados were able to get within three points at the beginning of the second half, but the Tigers pulled away by outscoring CTX 15-4 the rest of the quarter.
As a team, the Tornados shot 30.2 percent from the floor while ETBU was able to shoot 40.0 percent.
Next up, CTX will travel to Kerrville, Texas to take on Schreiner at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 3.
