BROWNWOOD, Texas – In a low-scoring affair, the Concordia Texas men's basketball team were unable to complete the comeback, falling 82-77 to Howard Payne on Thursday.
Five Tornados would score in double figures, led by
Philip Meikle's 16 points, while
Ben Page scored 12 points on eight shots and grabbed seven rebounds.
Page moves one step closer to the 1000-point plateau, as he now sits 21 points from the milestone.
Ephriam Price III would lead CTX in the first half, shooting 4-5 from the field, including three from behind the arc for 11 points. The Tornados would trail at the half though, down 48-43.
In the second half, CTX would struggle from the field, shooting 36 percent. Meikle would come alive though with 11 points, including a four-point play, giving the Tornados an eight-point lead with 7:13 to play.
The Yellow Jackets would respond down the stretch, outscoring CTX 19-8 to retake the lead with under a minute to play. Meikle's game-tying three was off the mark as the Tornados fell 82-77.
Concordia Texas will end its regular season on the road, taking on Sul Ross State at 4 p.m. on Saturday in Alpine, Texas.
