ALPINE, Texas – Three Tornados would score in double figures, but the Concordia Texas men's basketball team would come up short, falling to Sul Ross State 84-73 in the regular season finale on Saturday.
Ben Page finished with a team-high 19 points for the Tornados, two points shy of reaching the 1000-point plateau. He would also grab seven rebounds in the game.
Concordia Texas struggled from behind the arc in the first half, knocking down only one three-pointer and trailed the Lobos 45-36 at the break.
In the second half,
Christian Colston would go to work for the Tornados, shooting 4-5 from the floor and scoring 12 of his 14 points on the night.
Ronnie Hamilton would also give CTX a boost on the boards, securing a career-high eight rebounds in the game.
After trailing by 24 at one point, the Tornados would cut the deficit to 10 with under seven minutes to play. Sul Ross State would hold though, taking the game 84-73.
Concordia Texas finishes as the three seed in the American Southwest Conference West Division and will now prepare for the ASC Tournament, which will be hosted by the Lobos in Alpine, Texas. The Tornados will take on the two-seed from the East Division, UT Dallas, on Thursday, Feb. 22 at 5 p.m.
