Tornados celebrate senior day in home finale

AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia Texas softball team honored its six seniors before its home finale, where they fell to No. 10 East Texas Baptist 5-0 on Friday.

The Tornados honored Brittani Whitten, Alyssa Autrey, Ryan Gibson, Morgan Loredo, Alexia Rowe and Katie Daniel, who were all playing their final home game as a Tornado.

After the ceremonies, the Tigers would strike first with a run in the first inning and CTX trailed 1-0.

The Tornados would amass three hits in the game and worked six walks, but were unable to bring home a run, leaving nine runners on base in the game.

East Texas Baptist would score two more in the third and a run each in the fifth and sixth innings to extend their lead to 5-0.

Concordia Texas would try to rally in their final at-bat as Loredo had a two-out single, but Whitten was retired as the Tigers won 5-0.

Up next, the Tornados will turn their attention to UT Dallas, who they will face on the road in a three-game set beginning on Friday with a doubleheader at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
