McHam scores twice as Tornados Blank ETBU 3-0

AUSTIN, Texas – Savannah McHam found the back of the net twice and goalkeeper Shelby Franco recorded her first shutout of the season as the Concordia Texas women's soccer team defeated East Texas Baptist University 3-0 Saturday at Round Rock Multipurpose Complex.

The Tornados scored three goals for the second time this season and recorded their first shutout since Oct. 21, 2017 against McMurry to move to 2-3, 1-1 ASC.

McHam, a freshman out of Burnet, Texas, opened the scoring in the 19th minute off an assist by fellow freshman Emily Newton.

Leading 1-0 at halftime, CTX scored once again in the 57th minute when Kaycee Moore scored her second goal of the season thanks to an assist by McHam.

Just four minutes later, Moore and McHam hooked up once again, this time with the freshman on the scoring end. For McHam, it was her third goal in the last two games.

Franco, a junior from Hurst, Texas, recorded five saves and picked up her seventh career shutout.

In total, CTX out-shot the Tigers 17-12 in the win and had eight shots on goal, compared to five for ETBU.

The Tornados will look to make it two straight victories as they travel to Clarksville, Ark., Thursday to take on Ozarks at 2:00 p.m.
