Gonzalez's goal not enough as Tornados fall 3-1 to Ozarks

CLARKSVILLE, Ark. – Cayla Gonzalez scored her second goal of the season, but it was not enough as the Concordia Texas women's soccer team came up short to the University of the Ozarks on Thursday, losing 3-1.

The Tornados would total 17 shots in the game, including 12 on frame, but were only able to mustard the lone goal.

Concordia Texas would strike first with a goal in the first half. In the 20th minute, after an Eagles' goal kick, Delaney Kennedy would take possession, racing down the right side and cut into the box to find Gonzalez, who would fire it into the back of the net.

The Tornados would hold off Ozarks and take their 1-0 lead into the locker room at halftime.

In the second half, the Eagles would respond though, scoring a pair of goals in the first 18 minutes to take a 2-1 lead.

Concordia Texas would continue to look for the equalizer, taking three of their seven corner kicks in the second half, but were unable to score as Ozarks recorded 11 saves in the game.

The Eagles would score once more in the 84th minute as the Tornados suffered a 3-1 losing decision.

Concordia Texas continues its two-game road trip when they travel to Tyler, Texas for a matchup with UT Tyler on Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Perkins Soccer Complex.
