HOUSTON –
Omar Aguirre would score for the second straight game, but the Concordia Texas men's soccer team would come up short to St. Thomas (TX), falling 2-1 on Sunday.
The Celts would lead for most of the game, after scoring a goal in the 12th minute.
The Tornados would battle back though, firing off eight of their 12 shots in the second half.
Omar Aguirre, who scored in the team's season-opening over Texas Lutheran on Friday, would receive a low-ball cross in from
Joel Abrego and find the back of the net to equalize it at 1-all in the 85
th minute.
St. Thomas would respond quickly though, retaking the lead with a goal in the 86th minute.
Concordia Texas would have a chance in the last minutes of the game on a corner kick, but
Nash Cole's header was saved over the crossbar, as the Tornados fell 2-1.
Concordia Texas will have a quick turnaround, heading to Kerrville, Texas on Wednesday to take on Schreiner at 4 p.m. in a non-conference matchup.
