Tornados blank Ozarks, produce second straight shutout

CLARKSVILLE, Ark. – Omar Aguirre scored his fourth goal in three games and Rob Oakley posted his second consecutive shutout as the Concordia Texas men's soccer team grabbed a 1-0 victory over Ozarks Thursday at Hurle Soccer Field.

The Tornados won their third consecutive American Southwest Conference contest to move to 4-2, 3-0 ASC.

Aguirre, a senior from Austin, Texas, scored his sixth goal of the season which proved to be the game winner in the 28th minute on a penalty kick. The 2017 First Team All-ASC selection led all players with four shots, all on goal.

CTX was solid as a team all game defensively, allowing just seven total shots and only four on goal. Oakley, a junior out of Dallas, picked up his 11th career shutout in goal while making four saves.

As a team, the Tornados out-shot Ozarks 10-7 and held an 8-4 advantage in shots on goal.

With the win, the Tornados move into first place in the ASC. The 3-0 start in conference play is the best start in school history.

Next up, CTX will go for their fourth straight victory as they head to Tyler, Texas, to take on UT Tyler at 4:30 p.m.
