TYLER, Texas – After a change in game time and location, the Concordia Texas women's soccer team faced UT Tyler on Saturday, coming up short, losing 3-1.
The Tornados and Patriots were set to play on the campus of Texas-Tyler at 2 p.m. but due to rain in the forecast and field conditions, the game was moved to the turf field on the campus of Tyler Junior College.
In a tough first half for CTX, they would trail UTT 3-0 as the teams approached the 25
th minute of the game.
The Tornados would rally together though to get on the board courtesy of
Kendall Simpson before the end of the first half.
On a free kick opportunity in the 45
th minute by
Alicia Pineda, Simpson would be there for the redirection and the score to cut it to 3-1. For Simpson, it was her first collegiate of her career.
In the second half, the Tornados would hold the Patriots scoreless but were unable to trim the deficit as they fell to UTT 3-1.
Due to the UT Tyler's reclassifying to Division II, the game did not count toward CTX's conference record.
The Tornados will look to snap their two-game losing streak when they will host Louisiana College on Thursday at 5 p.m. from the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex in Round Rock, Texas.
