Tornados split against UT Dallas and Louisiana College

BELTON, Texas – The Concordia Texas volleyball team took the short trip up north to the campus of Mary Hardin-Baylor for the first American Southwest Conference crossover of the season, splitting matches with UT Dallas and Louisiana College on Friday.

In the first match of the day, the Tornados went up against reigning ASC East Division champion UT Dallas, falling in straight sets 15-25, 14-25, 7-25.

Concordia Texas would be led by Sam Mendez, who had a team-high eight kills, while Kelly Farina had four kills for the match.

Lianne Vandyke nearly had double-digit assists off the bench, reaching a team-high nine assists, while Georgia Quiroz had 13 digs for the Tornados.

In match number two of the day, CTX would face Louisiana College, defeating the Wildcats in straight sets 25-16, 25-23, 25-19 for their fifth sweep of the season.

The Tornados would have a balanced attack, totaling 39 kills, led by Marissa Stinson, who finished with a team-high 10 kills on a .600 hitting percentage. It is the ninth time she has reached double figures in kills this season.

Quiroz and VanDyke would both reach double-digits in assists, as VanDyke tied her season-high in assists with 11 for the game, while Rylee Davis, who set a career-high in digs against Southwestern on Tuesday, finished with a team-high 19 for the game.

Concordia Texas will wrap up the ASC Crossover on Saturday when they take on Belhaven at noon inside the Mayborn Campus Center in Belton, Texas.
