BELTON, Texas – After splitting the first two matches of the American Southwest Crossover, the Concordia Texas volleyball team faced Belhaven on Saturday, sweeping them in straight sets in the Mayborn Campus Center.
It is the sixth sweep of the season for the Tornados, including their last three wins all coming in the form of straight sets as they defeated the Blazers 25-15, 25-23, 27-25.
After cruising to an easy first set win, CTX had a back-and-forth battle with BU. Holding a slim 15-14 lead, the Tornados would go on a 9-0 run to set up match point, but had to hold off a late Blazers rally, winning the set off a service error.
In the final set, CTX would have to stage their own rally as they tried 23-20 late. The Tornados would win seven of the final nine points, including staving off a BU set point twice, and clinched the win on a
Marissa Stinson kill.
Three players had at least eight kills, led by
Kelly Farina, who had a team-high 13 kills to go along with 10 digs for her fourth double-double of the season.
