ROUND ROCK, Texas –
Omar Aguirre would provide the game-winning goal in the 75th minute as the Concordia Texas men's soccer stayed undefeated in conference play with a 2-1 win over Belhaven on Saturday.
Knotted up at 1-all, Aguirre would score for the fourth straight game and his seventh goal in the team's last six games as the Tornados retook the lead in the 75th minute.
Edgar Guerrero would provide the assist on the play for Aguirre, who shot from the right side of the box and bended it into the left side of the net.
With the goal, Aguirre is now tied with Diego Outerial for the second-most goals in a single season in program history, while also moving up to second all-time in career goals with 17 behind only former teammate, Aleajandro Labastida, who had 19 goals in his four-year career.
In the first half, CTX would strike first as
Daniel Valadez would record his first goal of the season in the 20th minute, shooting it left past the goalie, while Aguirre picked up his team-leading fourth assist of the year.
The Blazers would counter with their own goal in the 33rd minute to tie it up at 1-all before Aguirre's heroics in the second half.
Up next, the Tornados will head on a three-game road trip with their first stop being in Brownwood, Texas when they take on Howard Payne on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. going for their third straight win.
