PINEVILLE, La. – The Concordia Texas men's basketball team finished strong down the stretch, scoring 22 of the final 28 points, to earn a 65-53 victory over Louisiana College on Thursday night at H.O. West Fieldhouse.
With the win, the Tornados picked up their second straight victory overall and move to 5-9 and 3-2 in the American Southwest Conference. CTX has now handed both LC and LeTourneau their only losses in ASC play this season.
Joe Neal was phenomenal in the win, posting his second straight double-double after producing 13 points and 11 rebounds. Coming off the bench,
Tommy Holiday also had a solid performance with 11 points and eight boards.
The game went back-and-forth for nearly the entirety of the first half. CTX opened the game on a 9-2 run, and the Wildcats responded with an 8-2 run of their own.
Louisiana College closed the first half with another 8-2 run to take a 30-29 lead into the break.
With the Wildcats leading 47-43 with 11:51 left to play, CTX began to heat up and never looked back. The Tornados scored 10 straight points in what was ultimately a 22-6 run to close the contest.
As a team, the largest advantage the Tornados held was in points off turnovers. CTX outscored LC 23-7 in the category while forcing a total of 23 and only committing 14.
Next up, CTX will travel to Jackson, MS., to take on Belhaven at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
