Neal, Tornados take down Belhaven for third straight win

JACKSON, Miss. – Joe Neal scored 24 of his 31 points in the second half and the Concordia Texas men's basketball rallied from an eight-point deficit to defeat Belhaven 101-91 on Saturday for their third win in a row.

The Tornados shot 49 percent from the field as a team with four players finishing in double figures, led by Neal's 31 points. Ronnie Hamilton, meanwhile, recorded his first double-double of the season, dishing out 10 assists and scoring a career-high 22 points on 10 shots.

Concordia Texas would get off to a hot start, scoring the game's first 12 points, including back-to-back 3-pointers from Spencer Bone, who had 10 points on the day, his third double figures output of the season.

Hamilton's layup would give the Tornados their largest lead of the game, mkaing it 23-7 with 13:25 to go first half. The Blazers would come all the way back though, ending the half on a 25-10 run and take a 46-40 advantage into the locker room.

In the second half, Neal would lead the charge as CTX began its rally, opening with a 14-6 run, capped by a pair of free throws by Neal to retake the lead at 54-52.

Neal would shoot 9-of-15 in the half, including scoring seven straight points as a part of a 12-5 run as the Tornados extended their lead to eight.

Hamilton would close out his career day hitting two at the charity stripe to put CTX over the century mark, taking down Belhaven 101-91 for their third straight victory and fourth in their last five games.

Maluw Deng would also have a career day, shooting 6-of-8 from the field, including 3-of-4 from downtown, on his way to a career-high 19 points.

Up next for the Tornados, they will return home for a conference matchup with McMurry on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. inside Concordia Fieldhouse.
