Tornados blank Belhaven, win fourth in a row

JACKSON, Miss. – Marco Vazquez's goal in the 60th minute was the difference for the Concordia Texas men's soccer team, who won their fourth game in a row, shutting out Belhaven 1-0 on Saturday at Belhaven Bowl Stadium.

The Tornados were in attack mode throughout the game, registering 21 shots, while the defense kept the Blazers in check, holding them to only six shots for the game.

Concordia Texas fired off nine shots in the first half, but BU was there, tallying four saves in the half to keep the game scoreless as the teams headed to the locker room at halftime.

In the second half, the Tornados broke the tie as Joel Abrego found Vazquez in the 60th minute, hammering it into the back of the net and make it 1-0.

It is the sixth goal of the season for Vazquez, which leads the team, while Abrego picked up his fifth assist of the year.

Concordia Texas' defense finished off the game, allowing only four shots in the second half, none of them on goal, and blanked the Blazers 1-0 for their fifth shutout of the season.

The Tornados will continue their road trip when they travel to Abilene, Texas for a conference battle against McMurry on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
