ABILENE, Texas –
Xavier Polk's goal in the 6th minute was all the Concordia Texas men's soccer team needed, recording their second straight shutout and fifth win in a row, defeating McMurry 1-0 on Thursday at Wilford Moore Stadium.
The Tornados put on a defensive showing for the second game in a row, limiting the War Hawks to five shots for the game, only one of them on goal.
Concordia Texas, meanwhile, did not wait long to strike offensively as
Victor Gomez found Polk in the opening minutes of the first half, firing it in the back of the net and made it 1-0.
The Tornados would hold McM to only one shot in the first half and took their 1-0 advantage to the locker room at halftime.
In the second half, the War Hawks nearly evened it at 1-all in the 54th minute, but goalkeeper
Erik Rodriguez was there for his only save of the night.
Concordia Texas would go on to keep McM off the board and record its second consecutive shutout, winning it 1-0.
The Tornados have now won five games in a row and have tallied seven total shutouts on the season, the second-most shutouts in a single season in program history.
Concordia Texas will return to the pitch on Saturday, facing Hardin Simmons at 3:30 p.m. in Abilene, Texas.
