AUSTIN, Texas –
Tristyn Massey and
Georgia Quiroz each finished with a double-double, but the Concordia Texas volleyball team saw their three-game winning come to an end on Saturday, falling to UT Dallas 3-0 on the final day of the American Southwest Conference crossover.
The Tornados, who had won their previous three matches including a four set victory over LeTourneau on Friday afternoon, fell in straight sets to the Comets 21-25, 13-25 and 17-25.
In the opening set, CTX would battle back and forth with UTD, knotted up at 10-all after blocks by
Marjani Myles and
Emma Reed. The Comets would pull away though after a 7-3 run and went on to win the set.
In the second set, the Tornados once again went toe to toe with UTD and led early after a Massey kill made it 5-4. The Comets responded though, reeling off 12 of the next 15 points to take control of the set and go up 2-0 in the match.
Concordia Texas looked to force a fourth set, recording 12 kills in period, but came up short, losing in straight sets.
Massey hit at a .258 percentage, registering a team-high 11 kills along with 11 digs. Quiroz, meanwhile, who became the program's all-time assists leader against the Yellow Jackets, finished with a team-high 18 assists and 10 digs.
Next, the Tornados will hosted McMurry on Friday at 6 p.m. inside Concordia Fieldhouse.
