Tornados steamroll Dallas Christian 92-66

DALLAS – A trio of Tornados scored in double figures and Havyn Perez nearly had a triple-double as the Concordia Texas women's basketball team cruised past Dallas Christian 92-66 on Saturday for their first win of the season.

Madi Maxwell, coming off her highest scoring output of her collegiate career against Southwestern on Thursday, had 14 points, while Kennedy Donovan shot 5-of-6 from the floor and finished with 14 points as well. Payton Berger finished in double digits for the fifth straight game, totaling 13 points after a 3-of-6 shooting performance from downtown.

Perez, meanwhile, dished out a career-high 11 assists, added eight points and pulled down a career-high seven rebounds in the win.

Concordia Texas' largest deficit was 6-3 in the opening quarter before taking control of the game as seven Tornados recorded at least a point in the period and led 20-12 after one.

In the following quarter, CTX shot 78 percent from the field, including a 4-of-6 mark from behind the arc, and outscored the Crusaders 32-13 in the frame.

At halftime, the Tornados held a 52-25 lead.

In the second half, the Tornados continued to maintain control of the game and took their largest lead of the contest at 87-52 after Donovan's layup halfway through the fourth quarter.

Concordia Texas finished the game shooting 50 percent from the field and rolled to a 92-66 win over DC.

It is the most points scored by the Tornados in a single game since tallying 98 points in a double-overtime win over Texas Lutheran on Nov. 21, 2015.

Allie Garza also had a career high in assists, dishing out eight on the day along with six points. Chelsea Cogburn nearly had a double-double, snagging six rebounds and finishing with eight points.
