AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia Texas softball team got a strong start from
Taylor Verinsky in the circle, but it was not enough as they fell 3-1 against Ozarks Saturday at Tornado Softball Field.
After splitting a doubleheader on Friday, the Tornados dropped the series finale to move to 3-4, 1-2 ASC on the year.
Verinsky, a sophomore from Lumberton, was saddled with the loss despite a strong outing, allowing just two earned runs on seven hits over 5.0 innings.
The Ealges got the scoring started in the top half of the fourth on an RBI single up the middle to take a 1-0 lead.
The Tornados answered right back in the bottom half of the inning, scoring a run thanks to a leadoff single from
Payton Walker, followed by a steal from pinch runner
Taylor Smith. After advancing to third on a wild pitch, Smith came home on an RBI fielder's choice by
Summer Harper.
Ozarks responded, however, with single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to secure the victory.
Simone Langland closed the contest with back-to-back perfect innings, but CTX was unable to push anything else across.
Next up, the Tornados will take on Schreiner in a doubleheader on Tuesday at Tornado Softball Field, beginning at 4:00 p.m.
